stepping through the code.

Here's a noob question for ya.
Is there a way to step through the PHP code line by line class by class file by file so I can watch the flow of execution.

Kind of like in a visual basic editing encironment? That would really help me understand things.

If so, any recommendations on programs to use? I do have PHPedit, but I don't think it can open file on a server; only local. Maybe I am mistaken.
Thanks in advance.

I use Zend Debugger with Eclipse/PDT Zend Webserver Setup. It works pretty well, although it requires you to run a local server on your dev box. Another link to Zend

I like to do it old school. Print out every file, spread 'em out on a table, get a few pencils and highlighters, and go at it. Good for understanding how things work. Not so much for debugging and finding errors.

After I build a bonfire and make some Texas toast with Colin's papers ;-P I use NuSphere PhpEd. It's a full PHP IDE with built in debugger.

I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at, but I can assure you it is does. It's a professional grade tool not a freebee. That will turn most people away.

Randy,

All I am getting at is that he already has this tool and I tried to find out if debugging worked with it. For some reason the documentation on their site about debugging is blank. That, I can assure you, is all I am getting at. I believe you that Nusphere has debugging and I am sure it is very good, I only attempted to help him use the tool he already has (PHPedit) and recommended the tool I use and works for me. The Texas Toast does sound good to me as well.

Well, I like soccer and mostly stole their name as a handle because my initials are DC. I live in GA. It's all good.
