Update The Default View

I think it would be nice to update the welcome page view to something more modern, it pretty basic now has not changed much.
There's only one rule - please don't tell anyone to go and read the manual.  Sometimes the manual just SUCKS!

Current one is fine for me, but yes, the more pleasing one could be for a good of the project.

Lol - Surely this is not really relevant? It is one very small self contained view that shows CI is working. No one is going to choose or not choose CI based on this.

This may not be relevant to choosing CI, but isn't an unreasonable request to see in CI4.

Sounds like a good one to me. I have to admit a bit of jealous looking at the slick "starter pages" of Lumen and Laravel currently. Definitely something to be said for packaging being important to how people think of it.

How about some sort of Zen Garden competition to produce a brand new CI 4.0 Welcome page?

Winner optionally gets to include their name/url to their site.

Edit:
I have added a profiler link to my welcome screen:

I for one don't care what's on the welcome page, its only purpose is to tell you that it's working and you never look at it again.

If somebody wants to improve it - go for it, but a competition ... that'd be too much.

New first look with each new version sounds nice / fresh..

I think that the only reasonable improvement would be, to make that Welcome page a Tool which would help developers to setup their application like configurator. It can produce a few checks as dir permissions, missing settings or default values, can purpose htaccess and others basic start up ideas..

I agree with narf, welcome.php should just be a file dump no bells or whistles.
