Code Igniter vs Laravel

The way I see it, discussions are completely useless.

You see, I'd love a million dollars. Lets discuss this one million dollars shall we? Doesn't mean I am actually going to get it.

As I have seen from these forums:
Some people want a fully stacked framework with auth and all sorts of plugins.
Some people want to get rid of AR and have an ORM.
Some people want a minimal framework.
Some people want to get rid of $this->, other people want to keep it.
Some people want a more laravel style framework and other people want to keep it as it is.

As the axiom states: too many cooks, spoil the broth. Especially when said cooks, wouldn't know how to develop a framework. That's even worse!
