The straightforward answer is simplicity and most of what you've listed comes down to that - it is so simple in many, many ways and that is what makes it easy, lightweight and attractive to most beginners. And probably just as important, the project has kept simplicity as one of its main goals, while other frameworks got very complex over the years.
