I noticed CI 2.2.0 is not MIT yet... Is this a lack of update or we can't use CI 2.2.0 for personal/comercial projects and we can do it with 3.0? Should I just start using CI 3 instead of stable version?

I believe that will stay the Ellis Labs Orginal license (included in 2.2 download)
From what I understand (I'm no lawyer) it's "as is" and make sure you include the "license.txt" file.

Earlier versions of CodeIgniter were released under EllisLab's open source license, and it is not appropriate for us to look at changing that.
There is nothing to prevent you from using CI2.2 for your projects.

I do agree that you should look towards CI3, however!

Thanks. For what I've read so far it seems that CI3 already shows good stability. I'll give it a try.

The licensing issue has deterred a lot of companies and developers away from CI.
Correct decision.

For those still "waiting" for the official release, please download and start using it now.

You will want to be familiar with it when you build your next app and the Release Candidate
is working just fine as it is.

The announcement link for the Release Candidate, 3.0 RC is:

http://forum.codeigniter.com/thread-890.html
CI 3.1 Kubuntu 19.04 Apache 5.x  Mysql 5.x PHP 5.x PHP 7.x
Remember: Obfuscation is a bad thing.
