PyroCMS v0.9.7.4 - an open-source modular general purpose CMS
#1

[eluser]Phil Sturgeon[/eluser]
PyroCMS is a CMS built using the CodeIgniter PHP framework with modularity in mind. Lightweight, themeable and dynamic.

It was originally used for giving my client sites a jump start with a re-useable base and adding modules/features as I went. It was always closed source and had a cost for use.

As I have been out of the self-employed game for over a year and have even given up freelance (for now), I feel I should open PyroCMS up to the public.

It has been in development for over a year and already has some great features.

Modular
Using Matchbox developers can add and remove modules just by add/delete the folder

News
Articles with a monthly archive and categories

Photos
Needs a little work on the frontend but is pretty solid

Comments
Can easily be hooked onto any module, captcha can be enabled or disabled, disabled for registered users.

Twitter module
Has a status updates block that shows recent updates and optionally can post status updates when new articles are posted.

User roles
Like groups, users can be assigned a role (admin, user, etc).

User management
Profiles, user settings, etc

Permissions
Users by default are blocked from all admin pages, but can be allowed based on module, controller and method.

Themes
Supports multiple themes, uploadable and selectable through the themes page.

Settings
Dynamic settings GUI.

Multi-lingual
The whole interface is built with language files but currently only English, Spanish and French is currently supported. The pages content and news content supports multiple languages so you can post content only to a certain language.

Why "PyroCMS"?

My old username on these forums since I joined was "thepyromaniac", this was also my old nickname in the Postnuke/phpBB/PNphpBB communities so it has plenty of history.

Forgot to mention my blog runs on this CMS http://philsturgeon.co.uk. The frontend stuff has a little way to come and this is not the default theme.

Can post some DEMO url or screenshots

One more .....
Do u break CI core files ????

[eluser]Phil Sturgeon[/eluser]
Of course not, wouldnt dream of touching them. I extend a few as to be expected, but will work with any CI install you already have.

Will post some screenshots over the weekend. The design is VERY nearly done!

Would be very interested to see what you have got made so far and whats under the hood. I would also be willing to help you write some maybe but would need to know what needs doing. A module repo/site would be nice, that way these can all be drop in sections and user submitted.

Very interested to see it at work..... I want to test it.
Only a suggestion: pagination of the blog preview , for a non longer scroll as in the http://philsturgeon.co.uk/
Thank you for the contribution

Yes pagination is something that needs adding for the frontend, always putting that one back which is a real issue.

Been putting the hours in on the backend recently, it really is coming along now I have integrated the new design.
