Forum reference and referral link error
#1

I'm using the html link provided on my user panel to place a referral link to this forum on a webpage.  However I get this error when I test the link:

"Sorry, but our system shows that you have already registered on these forums and the registration of multiple accounts has been disabled."

Is this because I'm using the same system to test as I normally use to access the forum?  I can test this on another system to verify, but I'm not presently near that computer so...
Thanks

I'm not sure which link you are getting, but it could be one to your user panel itself.
The proper link would be http://forum.codeigniter.com

I think you refer to an registration progress link. the one as described above will be the correct linking.

Hmmm...
The page on which I'm finding the referral html link is:

http://forum.codeigniter.com/usercp.php

Just below my "account summary" is text which reads:

"To refer a member to this board, direct them to http://forum.codeigniter.com/member.php?...eferrer=27"

This is the html for a link which is giving me the error, quoted in my original post.

It may be that this link will generate the error if used by the person it points to, me.

I don't know how this forum software is configured to handle this situation and I
post this as a "heads-up" to you, ciadmin.  FYI

Thanks for the reply(s)

Ok, thats the point. The link is right, but it is for a new user. If you click on this link as registered user your message is comming up because you have already an account.

Try it with another browser or logout and to to this link than you see what i mean ;o)
