how to upgrade to CI 3

I've got a just-started CI2 project and we are considering upgrading to CI3 despite the fact that the documentation is not ready. How does one upgrade from CI2 to CI3? There are no instructions here:

Thanks, miko91. I had googled first and the new documentation link was not among the results. Seems to me the docs could use some SEO optimization. Something that CodeIgniter can be quite good for.

Apparently that Marco Monteiro link requires that your CI project have some git history linking it back to a CI2 code base -- which was not the case for me.
