I programmed a simple application in CodeIgniter that takes form input and saves a file on a web server. I'd like to modify the application so it adds a new entry in ExpressionEngine. What database tables do I need to insert into? Is there a tutorial on this anywhere?

Your best bet would be to check on the EE forums on what tables you need to modify. The ee development docs might also help. It certainly is possible if both applications have access to the database.
