I'd like to be able to change the name of the file that is generated by logging, so that the name of the file is consistant (for tailing purposes, mostly), instead of date-based. I imagine having it cutoff at some point (based on a file size limitation) would be ideal, but not absolutely necessary, as I'll be monitoring it fairly closely for the time-being anyway.

Also, at some point, I'd like to be able to divert different messages into different log files (errors.log for errors, dbaccess.log for general database access related entries, debug.log for debug entries, etc.), so any insight into how that might be accomplished would be very helpful too.

Check core files...I guess there is no direct method available.

That's a bit surprising, does anyone know if there an extension had been created that handles this? Maybe something akin to log4j.
