hi guys, i was wondering what programs are used in the codeigniter tutorial? the one he is typing the PHP in, and the other for the databases. also, he was doing all this localy, on his machine right..? can anyone point me to the right place to get these 2 programs

which operating system you are using if you using windows than try netbeans php ide, Appserv for php,mysql,and apche, to work on locally.
