I'm not sure exactly what all the prettyurls function does, but it looks to me like the patch suggested by b3nst3wart would affect not just your function names but it would also affect all of your $_GET data, your query string, and a lot of other stuff. It would essentially make it impossible to provide a dash in your method parameters.

And those Apache solutions are seriously ugly.

Is there any way to just replace the dashes in a server request with underscores for the controller class name and class method segments only?
