Uploading Video Questions - El Forum - 04-29-2011

I'm going to need to upload video on my next website. I had a few questions:
1. If I have an flv player like youtube or something, do I need/should I convert the video to flv as well when I upload it?
2. How can I grab a screenshot of different segments in a video?
3. Are all of these things in the core codeigniter installation or do I need to download plugins?
