In searching other posts, it appears CI can easily be installed in a folder like: docroot/MyFolder.

Can I install in "MyFolder" for testing, then move it, or is that problematic?

On an existing site that I don't want to effect... can I install in "MyFolder" for testing just to learn the system?

You can install in sub-directories, develop and then move later no problem, it's all controlled in the config settings and how you use the in-built url helper within your application.
