MariaDB on CodeIgniter 3? - solidcodes - 10-29-2015

Is CodeIgniter 3 compatible with MariaDB?
If yes, how do I install/configure MariaDB in CI3?

thanks in advance.

The reason I asked becaue I"m upgrading xampp
And xampp replaced MySQL with MariaDB.
You can see it here.

I just installed xampp literally just now on linux and it works with mysql out of the box?

MariaDB is MySQL.

I believe that may not always be the case as the two diverge as they inevitably will. There have been rumors for some time that Oracle are going to remove the MYSQL open source licence although personally I doubt it.

A bit off topic but:
Sun Micro systems bought MySQL for $1billion - wow.
Then Oracle bought Sun for $7.4 billion - wow again.
Does anyone else think these are all just mind boggling sums of money? I wonder if they want to buy my websites? ~ £1.50 :-(

@Narf
thank you very much for your assistance.
I'm reading two books now regarding MariaDB.
