I agree with ivantcholakov. Using dogs, cats, and snake isn't a great analogy. Using different types of dogs is though. A German Shepard is a better police dog than a chihuahua, but a chihuahua does a much better job marketing tacos.

Condor, you bring up an interesting point. I use Codeigniter all the time, but the perception that the codebase isn't being developed or improved hurts the chances of new blood coming into our community.
