Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - skunkbad - 04-21-2016 Ubuntu 16.04 LTS was released today. I'm not usually excited about new releases, but this one brings PHP 7.0! See the release notes: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes?_ga=1.69381136.1623035657.1461275238#PHP_7.0 RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - sv3tli0 - 04-21-2016 Finally :-) RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - arma7x - 04-21-2016 Nice! Will get it now. RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - ivantcholakov - 04-22-2016 Hm, MySQL 5.7 has a dependency problem. Does somebody installed it somehow? RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. I haven't actually installed it yet, but there's this: http://mysqlserverteam.com/ubuntu-16-04-first-stable-distro-with-mysql-5-7/ RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - ivantcholakov - 04-22-2016 The symptoms I see are described here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/760724/16-04-upgrade-broke-mysql-server RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - skunkbad - 04-22-2016 So, it looks like the issue only effects people upgrading to 16.04, as opposed to doing a clean install. If that's the case, I've had similar issues when trying to upgrade PHP to version 7 on Ubuntu 14.04. The solution ended up being a re-installation of one of the packages, although I never wrote down which one, and was just glad to have got my system back to normal so I could get back to work. If it was me, I'd start a new thread over at ubuntuforums.org. RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today. PHP upgraded to 7.0! - John_Betong - 04-22-2016 Php 7 is a breathe of fresh air after learning to program using C and Pascal. Variable strictness should always have been an available option, same as VB. My only concern has been discussed a couple of months ago. http://forum.codeigniter.com/thread-64011.html RE: Ubuntu 16.04 released today.
