RE: Google eCommerce Tracking? - Charless - 08-10-2022

Hi, found this post through a google search as I also encountered this issue.

Google eCommerce tracking is a relatively new feature that is only available in Google Analytics for Google Shopping. It’s fundamentally different from the other features we track, since it is dedicated to tracking product sales and not customer conversions. This means that there are a couple of big differences between this feature and the other ones:
• Google Analytics includes information about shopping carts, which makes sense when you’re trying to track purchases. But with eCommerce tracking, it makes more sense to focus on sales, which tend to be much more quantitative (e.g., units of sale or dollars).
• This tracking isn’t solely about the number of products sold — it also tracks conversions (e.g., orders that have been completed)
.
The integration between these two features is fairly simple, but can be confusing if you aren’t familiar with them (and thus don’t want to dive into the details). It can be helpful to start by reading through our overview of shopping cart and conversion tracking in Google Analytics.
