RelateYouTube videos/Flikr images to RSS articles

Hey guys,

Working on a project that relies heavily on RSS sports news feeds. Users can select different feeds for different sports and are shown news, all sorted by time and so on.

The only problem, most RSS feeds that are being used do not include images for articles, so the site homepage is just a mass of textual information.

So the solution is to somehow relate external images/videos to each RSS article.

The first way I thought of doing this was to use the Flikr API, to try and get at least a thumbnail image that would relate to a news story. So use the API to search Flikr's database with terms from the article title/description. Only problem is that this method cannot be 100% correct all of the time.

And the same idea for videos... use YouTube API to search for video etc.

Has anyone else ever used the APIs for such functionality?

Thanks guys
