Thanks Brian. I'll look into getting that book you talked about. It seems like the best possible thing to do for someone starting out is to "see what happens", and as you said approaching people you think might be interested in your product. This can lead to two things; they will be interested and will buy your product, and they might be so pleased with it they will tell others. I think word of mouth plays a big part in gaining sales these days, as that is the best form of advertising/marketing any business/company could wish for.

As pointed out the hard part is starting something and sticking to it (scenario 4), from there on your on a better note then when you started due to the existing customer base, "one foot in the door" if you'd like.

Viral marketing or not, with a good product your bound to make money =] or so I keep telling myself.
