Can I use CodeIgniter to connecting to multiple databases configurartion?

At present time, I have multiple tables for different hospitals configured to one database.
By using the prefix I have successfully simplified the process for reading and writing to the database.
Is it possible to configure it to multiple databases within? or do I need to duplicate codeIgniter for this?
