Use CodeIgniter application outside CodeIgniter folders?!

Hello,
I have a CodeIgniter application in the directory /ci/.
Now, I'd like to have a file in /frontend/, that can use the models in my CodeIgniter application in /ci/. Is that possible with some includes?

Maybe someone can help me?
