It is "sticky" in the announcements subforum, but the portal shows just the most recent threads/posts, so it will drop off that until someone posts a reply/comment. I am unaware of a mybb plugin to keep it on the "hit parade" across the board, sorry.

the update to auto_link() does not seem to be included in the 3.1.8 download

just downloaded fresh version and checked but its not there
