Xampp and codeigniter problem

I installed xampp and codeigniter.
Within xampp,htdoc folder I create a folder ci and paste all codeigniter.
when i open http://localhost/codeignator/index.php to access the default controller to see the welcome message after clicking on enter button the url changes and the new url is http://localhost/xampp/splash.php.....The codeigniter page is not opening.
please solve the issue.
