Thank you for your post, Nick! I hope the defenders of another JS libraries also answer these questions and post their opinions about the libraries they like (and what they don't like in another libraries also). If people here post your comments, with this information other developers will can choose what JS library better fits their needs.
I was looking the HTML Editor of YUI that you provided, and I didn't like it... That toolbar is too big and tall. In many web applications we need to save space. A good HTML Editor must have a small toolbar, to fit everywhere.
I was looking at the HTML code generated by Ext HTML Editor and it is ot XHTML-compliant. For example, actually it is producing FONT tags, which is deprecated. Instead of using FONT tags, it could generate SPAN tags with inline styles. In my opinion, styles are much better, standard and more customizable. A real good HTML Editor must produce rich text that is portable and compliant with modern standards, even if you particularly do not use them in the rest of your application. Such data may be saved in databases or sent by Email, so it must be well done.
