xdebug and CI not working anymore?

I had xdebug and CI 1.7.2 working.

After I added some new routes, my app still works fine.

But now xdebug crashes in the CI_router class.

_set_routing() method is called.
_parse_routes() is called.
_set_request() is called
_validate_request() is then called and produces a 404 message in the browser.

Is this a bug or is there a workaround?
