codeigniter, session and windows-1251

I could not solve the problem with the encoding and and added to the configuration database
$manager->connection()->setCharset ('cp1251'), encoding problems solved, but stopped to work authorization on the site. it seems that the problem is that session data do not wish to save in the database. I use the doctrine and mysql, please help me
