avoid single quotes

hi frnds...
i would like to know is there any inbuilt validation function to unwanted characters like avoid single quotes.
me used escape functions at that time it will insert \ inside table.

my requirement is
if the customer insert string indi's then indias must be added to the database.

can anyone help me????
