gocart installation issues

i downloaded gocart and upzipped to my localhost root as /www/gocart/

but when i point to it, localhost/gocart/

it redirects to localhost/install

and give me the following error

Not Found

The requested URL /install was not found on this server.

when i type, localhost/gocart/install

it works

however after filling the installation form, and clicking Install, again redirects me to localhost/install

can someone please help me with this and tell me how to solve it
