log files

Is there something comparable to like an OC4J(java) log for CI? It would be beneficial when developing if I could see what is executing.

Is this error logging such as provided by log_message() (http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-gui...rrors.html), or something more elaborate? Can you elaborate?
