URL rewriting .htaccess

hi ,

I am new to this forum.
I want help on url rewriting in htaccess file.

I want to rewrite the url
http://mysite.com
to http://mysite.com/test/

so that all files and folders can be accessed using this url.
Actually there is no sub directory like 'test'
I want http://mysite.com/test/ and http://mysite.com/test1/ should be treated distinct url for the user and access the same
url http://mysite.com
