Well, Ion_Auth is what I would regard as 'proven'. TankAuth is another popular one (according to it's github repo, based on DX_Auth), but seems to be a bit outdated.
What you use doesn't have to be CI-specific though. In fact, I'd recommend using a framework-agnostic library.
So your best recommendation for CI is Ion_Auth ?
Why CI don't have an authentication library?
It will be a good idea to have a CI authentication library that is fully compatible. At least one with basic functions or a base for startup.
