Authentication and Log files

Hi People

I have developed a RESTful web services api.

I want some kind of authentication on the API's URL.

As in, if my API URL is like :

http://localhost/restapifolder/controlle...3/name/abc

I do not want any and every application to use this. I want some kind of authentication. Can someone give me pointers to that?

Also, I need to make a log entry of the id and the name i.e. the parameters(names and values) passed on to the api.

I need some key pointers to this too..
