I just had a look at Hoopoe's link. It was a similar article I read when starting first time with ci (although it was for previous version) and it was quite helpful and informative.
If you don't like video that much, (they are a little slow imo)I highly recommend this link too for newcomers to get a quick peek of the framework.

Still meet with the user_guide. It's one of the pros of this framework.
