Use of phpCAS

I have been looking at integrating a SSO capable authentication system. So far I have found CAS, which has a PHP library (phpCAS). https://wiki.jasig.org/display/CASC/phpCAS

Is the phpCAS library compatible with Codeigniter?

Or are there any other libraries that offer similar functionality?

This has been asked before on the forums, but none of them came to a conclusion.
