Hello, and best approach to user management with CI

Hello everybody,

I'm completely new to CodeIgniter. Actually, I've never used a PHP framework before. But I've been reading about various frameworks and have decided to get into CI for my next small project.

My first question already:

It doesn't seem that CI has a good native support for user registration, signin and general user management. So I guess I'll be writing my own class for this. Can anybody give me any pointer as to the best place to start and what to consider?
