CodeIgniter Image Thumbnail comes out monochrome

I was having problems with Thumbnail resizing, the thumbnails kept coming out monochrome and I was using example code from the CodeIgniter pages.

If anyone else gets this problem, I just found switching to GD2 instead of GD worked.

Yes, that solved it for me as well. GD->GD2
