Google Plus Server Side Flow?

Has anyone successfully managed to get Google Plus Server Side Sign In working with CodeIgniter?

It seems like it requires Twig, 3rd Party Libraries and then the documentation is missing code.
If anyone has got this working, please could you share how. It's driving me insane.

I got client-side flow working just fine as it doesn't require any libraries, however because the data is handled on the client-side, it leads to delays and restrictions on what content I can show when the page loads.
