Help revive codeigniter 2.x project

She said it should work but that she couldn't remember the login for it, she thought it would be admin/admin,, but it doesn't even respond after I manually edit the account table in the database, so I don't know what's working and what's not on this community project anymore :/
Have starting to learn this via educational videos about php, css, html, and so on,, so I have to see where it can lead me to get this project finished.
Still it's like learning an alien language, but I think it will begin to clear in time.
