removing PHP 5.6
#1

I am having trouble with my PHP install on a Ubuntu server. It seems that my php file (from my Windows PC) has many direct references to my hard drive c:\xxx\xxx and Linux is a very different thing. I already overwrote the php.ini that came on the LAMP environment on the server. But I also did some work on a mysql install on Lamp that seems to be OK and I don't want to screw with that. I plan to use

Code:
apt-get purge php5-common
 to remove it.

I will then need to reinstall 5.6, and I'd like to install with xdebug. Any downside? Where would I get a new Linux 5.6 version and is there any setup required? Perhaps a white paper?
