Development vs Production
#1

Just wanted an update on where CodeIgniter 4 is at in relation to Production when it comes to current current syntax and documentation, etc.  I have been burying my head into 4 trying to make sense of some areas such as the database and it seems to be lacking in both documentation and functionality.  I seem to be hitting many road blocks in errors in trying to get this to work?

I know we are still in development and don't want this to be rushed.  But building a new app in CI3 does not make sense at this point if 4 is the new version to come out.  I would like to continue on with 4 and get ahead of the game and not have to do a complete change of framework if at all possible.  But when it comes to trying to find solutions or examples google has very little and you-tube has much in other languages?

Anyone know of some places online where someone shows a solid example of lets say Forge or just some good database examples in general?

I love the changes so far.   Thanks to everyone involved to help the CI team and James make this a reality.  If there is anything I can do to help let me know.  Have a good Saturday everyone!

@birdsaloon,

Other than the documentation that is provided and searching the internet the other way that would probably give you more insight is to support Lonnie by contributing to him which would give you access to more information and video's about CI4 (https://www.patreon.com/lonnieezell)

You can check out my Myth:Auth and Myth:Forums projects. Auth is farther along, and 99% usable. Forums is still in early stages but plenty there to look at.

Also, MGatner has a number of CI4 addons that are pretty good examples.

Thank you both.  I will look further into it.

Definitely feel free to check out my modules (Lonnie’s link had a trailing =, https://github.com/tattersoftware). Most of my CI4 projects are for private clients, but I have an example of one you could check out: https://github.com/tattersoftware/sefer (abandoned but recently). Finally, we have a project in the works that will be both a place to learn and see live examples and a useable instance so you can modify it and play around. More soon!

I will definitely take a look at it.  I cannot for some reason migrate on my shared linux server at the moment.  Working on that issue for about an hour now.  Sad  Just wish there were more solutions on CI4 issues to help us understand more clear on how to code smoothly like CI3.  It's been rather timely to learn up to this point.

Passing along any and all feedback regarding documentation, tutorial ideas, or example requests would be very welcome. Where you are running into confusion regarding the differences between v3 and v4 would be particularly useful.
