ci_session file not updated in docker

My team is facing a problem where they are trying to move the installation to a docker setup with CI 3.1.9 and PHP 7.1 and when they run it on the docker, the ci_session file gets created but it remains 0 bytes and the website isnt able to go beyond the login page.

the same thing works on normal no docker setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you verified that the session directory has the right permissions (https://codeigniter.com/userguide3/libra...les-driver)?
