CodeIgniter 4 and Microsoft SQL Server

I'm considering CodeIgniter 4 as the framework for a large project, and I need to know whether CodeIgniter 4 will work with Microsoft's SQL Server with the same ease that it works with MySQL and other databases. I'm not looking for workarounds. Or what's coming in three months or six months.

Effective December 17th, 2020, is CI-4 designed to work flawlessly with SQL Server?

SQL Server is listed in the CodeIgniter 4 Development version.

Not sure if it is working in the CodeIgniter 4 version 4.0.4 Download.
