No. Ci4 does not connect to database by default.

It is not too big like Laravel, but CI4 is bigger or having more functionality than CI3.
And that makes CI4 slower.

Of course, just returning "Hello World!" is a very small part of the process compared to the totality of normal application processing.
So it does not mean CI4 apps are much slower than CI3 apps.
But I guess CI4 apps are not faster than CI3 apps now.
