Free upgrade to ee2 iff i buy now?

I've searched the forum for this but couldn't find anyone that had asked it before so here goes.

I have a client that i think would really benefit from expressionengine. So i would like to buy it when the time comes. However, when ee2 comes out with all it's CI goodness will it be a free upgrade for me or will i have to pay for it?

Does anyone know the answer?

Cheers!

The question has been asked lots of times in the EE forums (the search only searches the forums you're currently on).

The answer can be found here.

Personal interpretation of that: you'll pay the difference between the current price and the new price, but not the full price.

A quick check got me this from the commercial license
Quote:Included with your license is access to our download area where you can download free updates for one year.

So you don't have to pay for it if you buy a license now i guess.

Yes inparos' link states
Quote:If you only own 1.x, that’s the version you’ll have access to. If you upgrade to 2.0, you’ll have access to 1.x and 2.0.

But i find it strange Ellislab didn't start selling 2.0 licenses yet as the 2.0 license is backwards compatible.
