Authenticate against Windows with LDAP Helper!
#1

Like most companies, the large corporation I work for uses Windows and AD for all of their user accounts, etc. Well when the web guys that were here before me would make internal web apps for the company, they would always set up new user database. So naturally when I got here, I said "wtf?". There's no reason to have 10 different usernames floating around, so I started authenticating against our LDAP server. Once I began doing this over and over, I decided to just make it a simple header. Check it out!

Yeap. LDAP authentication rules! Combine that with an access control system based on AD groups and you've got yourself a very nice user management system.

I wish you made this helper 5 months ago when I was hitting my head against the wall trying to understand how LDAP auth works Big Grin

A bigger and better version coming soon! I just wanted to see what the response what and if this would be something people would really enjoy. Once I finish it, it's going to make my life so much easier!

As promised, I've created a new LDAP library that comes with all sorts of helpful functions as it relates to Active Directory. All you have to do is plug in your LDAP servers. Thanks to Scott for his help!

Here's the link for the Ldap Library
