Search Table Field

I would like to know if any one has come across this.

I would like to learn how to make a search input field for example where it only would filter / search by id and make it work with the codeigniter pagination.

Any suggestions please let me know I do not want to use dataTables.

There's only one rule - please don't tell anyone to go and read the manual.  Sometimes the manual just SUCKS!

How is this different from regular CI pagination?

1) Get the total number of results from the query, with the search term implemented
2) Get results for current page number with offset/limit, with the search term implemented

Thanks for advice will let you know how I go I have just finished the custom pagination and sortable table links now working on filter search.
