Do validation callbacks work inside models ?

What I like to do, is create an alias in the controller that passes the data to the appropriate function

This is what I would like to avoid, not to call validation from within the Controller. When called from within the Controller everything works as it should.
When called from within the Model the callback_ function is still not being picked up. The Model is being loaded.

Can anyone confirm if the callback function works when used within the Model with the MY_Form_validation extension?
