URL encoded with javascript encodeURIComponent breaks routing

The link below produces a popup that allows a user to post an image bookmark to the server. It seems to break the routing. This throws a 'Unable to load your default controller. Please make sure the controller specified in your Routes.php file is valid.' error.
What's odd is that it will work locally, but not on the production server. It may have something to do with that I'm only able to use ORIG_PATH_INFO as protocol (?).

Anyone else run into this problem?
