can index.php be somewhere other than the root?

I've been looking around for how to do this but can't find any answers. Can I put index.php somewhere other than the root of the webserver? I tried using absolute paths for the system and application folders specified in index.php but didn't have any luck.

Hi there,

in your config.php, the first line is

$config['base_url'] = "";

You could possibly put a different location in there, such as http://example.com/folder1/
